Hiya! I’m Krystal!

I am from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada but I am always ready to pack my bags and hop in my car or on a plane for you! I grew up on a farm but now live in the city, but it always makes my heart happy to get back out in the country. Nature is my happy place. It is where I feel most creative and free. I love exploring new locations. I love to connect with my Creator in His creation. I can’t help but stand in awe of Him while hiking through the mountains, watching the ocean waves, or a prairie sunset.

Fun Facts About Krystal:

I have been married to my wonderful husband Evan since 07.07.07. Nope that wasn’t planned, but it is sure easy to remember the day! (Don’t we look like kids!?)

We have two beautiful and spunky kids, Aubrey and Atticus, who bring such joy and laughter to whomever gets to meet them! Just look at those cuties!! Melt my heart!

I am a small town, prairie girl born and raised.  Moose Jaw, SK is where I call home. But if I love heading west to the mountains! If I could live anywhere it would be the mountains! Like just look at these views!!! Swoon!

A few of my fav things

Here are a few of my favourite things: mountains (love them so much they deserve a second mention!), making silly faces with my kids, campfires, hiking, stand up paddle boarding, sunshine, pizza, eating breakfast for supper, canoeing, and being a sloth on the couch and binge watch Netflix once our kids are in bed

I could eat Mini Eggs all day! They are the perfect mix of crunch with the candy shell but the right amount of yummy chocolate in the inside. Which is so funny because I don’t really like chocolate! Funny I know! (But not the Eggies – it has to be the Mini Egg brand!)

I wear Converse shoes to almost every session (minus the winter), even to weddings! I just love them!

I taught myself how to knit and crochet a few years ago. Oh boy it was a train wreck at first. Good for a laugh, but I have actually gotten pretty good at it. My goal someday is to make a Norwegian sweater. (Like in the photo below. These two were knit by a relative of ours that we got for our wedding! Beautiful eh?) I have made a toque with this pattern but a sweater will be a whole new challenge.

I love cheesy puns and jokes! They make me giggle! If it makes me groan, it’s a good one! haha!

I have “doctor” writing. Seriously, it’s so messy. My husband teases me that I am in the wrong profession with my writing. But oh boy, I could not be in the medical field. I get woozy when people talk medical stuff.

I love lists! I just love the feeling of scratching an item on when I accomplish it. BUT the crazy thing is, I will write something on the list that I just accomplish, just to scratch it off. Anyone else?

Music

I love listening to worship music! It is so uplifting and encouraging! Some of my favorite bands to listen to these days are Elevation Worship, Rend Collective (my whole family loves this band! We saw them in concert and it was so awesome!), Hillsong Worship to list a few.

Lately some of my favorite authors are Levi Lusko (“I Declare War”) and Lisa Bevere (“Without Rival”). They are amazing writers and these two books are SOOO good! I highly recommend!

A few things I don’t like and people think I am crazy are: wearing socks (bare feet all the way), drinking coffee (never have had a cup in my life but oh boy I do love walking into a coffee shop! It does smell good!!) and peanut butter (the smell grosses me out).

Ok now for some business fun facts!

I have been professionally capturing sessions since 2009 but have been behind a camera long before then. My Mom was always taking photos and now I do the same thing!

I LOVE love! Capturing people in love is my jam! It floats my boat and makes my heart all warm and fuzzy! I’m all about the genuine, joy-filled and timeless moments. Let me give you more than just photos; let me create an experience with the people you love most so that years down the road your photos will remind you of those moments and the authentic feelings will come flooding back.

My favorite sessions to photograph are weddings, engagements and couples and family sessions! But I do also photograph maternity and newborn sessions, grads and small business lifestyle personal branding sessions.

As of 2019, I have photographed over 80 weddings, 130 family sessions, 45 engagement and couples sessions, 52 maternity and newborn sessions, and many more.

My Vision for each session:

MY VISION IS TO LOVE, BLESS AND SERVE MY CLIENTS THROUGH JOY- FILLED, GENUINE EXPERIENCES.

Let’s be real. Being in front of a camera is awkward. It is! I’ve been the one with a camera in my face and I get it, it’s just plain weird.  Don’t worry, I’ve got this.

Lifestyle sessions and wedding include a lot of chatter by yours truly. (Warning: you will experience: some squeals, silly sound effects and a happy dance or two.) I will coach you in a way that allows you to let go of any insecurities.  I will give you prompts and poses that will help bring out your true self. I will also be sure to capture a few traditional posed photos, you know, the ones your mom will put up on her fridge. 

I pour my heart and soul into every session!  And if you are open, and real, we will be able to create some timeless images that are 100% you. You’re not just another name on the calendar to me.  I want to see you and the people you love most thrive!
