I work as the administrative assistant at Hillcrest Church here in Moose Jaw, and part of my role involves receiving information about various conferences throughout the year. Earlier this year, we got a brochure from Women’s Journey of Faith about their upcoming women’s conference in April, with none other than Lisa Bevere as the guest speaker! Lisa is a powerful and an amazing communicator who shares biblical truth with boldness, truth and grace. I’ve listened to her and her husband John Bevere’s podcasts, read their books, and have been deeply impacted by their ministries (MessengerX).
When I saw that Lisa would be speaking in Saskatoon, I knew I had to be a part of it. I reached out to the Women’s Journey of Faith team through Instagram and offered to photograph the event and to my excitement, they said yes! I’m so honored to be involved in capturing such an inspiring weekend.
This years conference was called By Design, where they encouraging women to find their identity in Christ and to lean on him daily in every area of our lives. Here is a quote from Lisa’s website what part of what she chatted about “The very idea of womanhood is being attacked on all fronts. As God’s daughters, we are presented with a choice. We can stand on the sidelines of history, or we can rise up, reclaim our divine identity, and get in the fight. The very idea of womanhood is being assailed on all fronts: sexualized by our culture, eliminated from language, and silenced by the church. For decades, both sexes have been systematically undermined and stripped of their strength. Male and female were originally created as a power union, but that turned into a power struggle. It’s time to unite, confident in our divine identity, clear in our commission, and courageous in our calling, to confront the darkness with love and light. It’s time to fight for female!”
With taking photos, I wasn’t able to take notes, but boy, there were so many encouraging moments during the speakers moments and during the breaks. One thing that I can remember is from one of the sessions with Lisa. “The enemy has a scheme but God has a plan.” I’m so thankful that God has a plan for my life, for yours and the for the world. It may seem like the enemy has moments where he looks like he is winning, but in the end, GOD WINS over the enemy. We don’t know the day or the time of this, but God has the perfect plan in his timing.
Meeting Lisa was such a gift! She’s an incredible speaker who is bold and honest, with a great sense of humor that draws you in while still delivering deep, biblical truth. What stood out most was her kindness and compassion. As I photographed her interacting with others, it was clear she was fully present , completely focused on the person in front of her, not distracted by the many events and commitments on her calendar. There’s a black and white photo below that captures this perfectly. Blessings to you and your ministry, Lisa!
One of the most impactful moments for me was during worship. Hearing hundreds of women lifting their voices in praise to the Lord was powerful beyond words. The atmosphere was electric with joy and unity. I was also deeply moved by the moments in the foyer with women hugging, laughing, and encouraging one another. It was a beautiful glimpse of the body of Christ in action.
Thank you WJOF for the amazing weekend! So take a peek the highlights from this years conference!
One of the sponsors of this years conference was UBC Radio, a Canadian Christian radio station.
