The Machmer family extended session out on the farm was such a special one, celebrating an incredible 50th wedding anniversary for Melody and Doug. Surrounded by wide-open skies and blooming canola fields, it was the perfect setting to gather generations together and honour a lifetime of love. There’s something extra meaningful about photographing a family in a place that reflects their roots, and this farm backdrop made the session feel both personal and timeless.
During extended family sessions, I always make time for a variety of combinations. Starting with the full group, then breaking off into individual family units and different groupings so everyone walks away with images that matter to them. This session was especially fun for me because I grew up on a farm, so being back out in the canola felt a little like coming home. Add in laughter, connection, and a beautiful milestone worth celebrating, and it made for an unforgettable evening.
