Teaching time! Want to make your images stronger? Here is a pro photography tip, watch your horizons! Did you know the background can take away from the subject? It can be distracting and take away from the subject if your horizon “goes though” your subjects head.
Let me explain.
Photography Tip: Watch your Horizon Lines Example 1:
The right photo was my first photo. I quickly realized that at my angle, the horizon was going tight through their heads – a bit distracting and subconsciously it isn’t as strong of an image verese the left photo. SO I got out my step stool and I photographed them from slightly higher, and the left photo is the end result. Isn’t that so much better without the horizon in the way?!

Here is another example with this super cute couple when they were sitting on the hillside.
Photography Tip: Watch your Horizon Lines Example 3:
Here is another example but with a twist! With this example, I didn’t step up on a stool, but I actually squatted down to get more sky in the photo. This was great because the clouds were getting ready for a storm, so it was perfect to show off the couple and the clouds!
When you squat down and have more sky, an added bonus is that because there is even less distractions with trees, or ground, that your subject will POP off the image!

And yes, this works for family photography too!
The next time you are taking photos, remember this tip!
