It was a sunny but CHILLY day when Kimberly and Paul eloped on the University grounds in Regina, Saskatchewan. This winter elopement was so full of joy, laughter, and goosebumps. (Not only because of how cold it was, but how beautiful this whole day was!)
I met these two love birds on the pathways of the University of Regina – a place that is special to them because they walk these paths often together and have gone to practice and concerts together here many times. This unique and special location was the most perfect background for these to lover of the arts!
About 30 minutes into our photo session, we started the ceremony. This ceremony was short and sweet – which was good, cause we hopped in behind some trees out of the sun and it was CHILLY! (These two were rock stars being in minus a million with their wedding attire on. Ok it wasn’t minus a million, but it felt that way!) This ceremony also was a first for me. In over 10 year of photographing weddings, this was the first that I actually signed the marriage papers for the couple! I was so humbled and honored that they asked me to be apart of this moment in history! (I hope I am able to do this many more times in the years to come as I have switched from weddings to elopement bookings.)
Once the papers were signed, Kimberly and Paul brought out their instruments. This was unique to them because band is actually how they met! So it was fun to bring this full circle!
We drove to two other locations but each one showed off Regina, and the University area that holds such a special place in their hearts! It was so cold – be it really could have been colder – there wasn’t much of a wind – and I know they were very grateful for that! If you wonder how these two managed the cold, between shots we would warm up in the cars, or put coats on with hand warmers in the pockets. Driving from each location they sipped on a warm drink. Saskatchewan doesn’t always have the warmest of winters, but it sure is beautiful and made for such a pretty backdrop for these two newlyweds!
Simple, quiet, fun – three words that Kimberly and Paul described what they hoped their elopement day would be like. And it truly was!
Congrats Kimberly and Paul! You really are “buddies for life!” (These two say this and then do their own unique handshake. So we had to snap a photo of it. You will see it in the photos!)
