A bucket list dream in my photography is to photograph a wedding or elopement in the Alberta or BC mountains. But it is hard to advertise for that when you live in the prairies. So I contacted Christine and Cody, who were married this past year, to see if they wanted to get dressed up again for some mock wedding photos in the Kananaskis mountains in the fall for advertising. But the day didn’t go as planned.
I met Christine at my sisters Bachelorette party, and then met both Cody and Christine at my sisters wedding. And each time they just radiated a peaceful joy and I knew I just had to get them in front of my camera, and soon! So I was so pumped when they agreed to get dressed up for some advertising images for my business. I had the perfect location in the Kananaskis area at this beautiful pond with the fall colored leaves, but with the forecast showing a ton of snow, we didn’t want to risk it driving out to the mountains because Christine had to be back in Calgary for a wedding later that afternoon. So enter plan B!
We met up at the beautiful Downtown Calgary Library and then ended up at a mall downtown with the most beautiful green space called Devonian Gardens. I love it that even though their wedding was in June, being dressed up in their wedding gear they got so many congrats by people passing by! But my fav moment between the two of them was when Cody would gently bring in Christine close to his face, and the Christine would get the biggest grin! It was so beautiful and romantic!
And if you were wondering, Calgary and the mountains did get A LOT OF snow! Depending on the location, anywhere from 15-25 cm in one day. So it was a good thing we didn’t get out there, or we would have been stuck.
Enjoy Christine and Cody’s mock wedding photos at both the library and Devonian Gardens. And if you know of anyone looking for a wedding or elopement photographer in the Calgary/Mountain area, let me know! I want to photograph more weddings in Calgary and in the mountains. 🙂
