Do you want all the “Moroccan vibes” without actually traveling to elope in Morocco? It can be done here in the Saskatchewan prairies!! Yes! You read that right! Here, smack dab in the middle of the Canadian prairies is a beautiful sandy paradise just south of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan at Camp Wolf Willow. It was the perfect setting for this Moroccan desert elopement styled session!
On my birthday this past June, I attended an amazing workshop called Sage & Dust put on by Doxa Photography and Stacie Carr Photography. This workshop had 5 styled photo sessions and education sessions all while hanging out with some pretty amazing photographers on the beautiful Saskatchewan River just north of Outlook, SK at Camp Wolf Willow. It was a fantastic time to learn from many talented people and get the creative juices flowing before the summer came. Stay tuned for all the sessions on the blog in weeks to come.
Clair and Staci did an amazing job with the main styled photo session! It was a Moroccan inspired elopement with soft sand, warm golden sun, dried palms, two boho bridal looks, barefoot reception feast, all with the Moroccan style. Then they created the second half as a golden hour ceremony up on the hills of river bank. But you will just have to wait for the second part for the ceremony and dusk photos. 🙂 This post is all about the beautiful sandy barefoot reception!
The stunning reception tablescape had many dried florals in all sorts of beautiful vases with cascading silks from a cabana tent. Hand made pitas, hummus, fresh fruits and vegetables, aromatic spices, teas and more were not only delicious but very beautiful to look at (and to photograph)!! The ladies had Turkish tea canteens, vintage wine decanters, golden tableware, and a variety of linens. One very special linen was a silk table drape with hand-written vows written on it by the talented calligrapher Paper Ocelot. Paper Ocelot also created a hand written letter that was a work of art!
Claire La Faye designed this stunning lace jumpsuit and shear cape which was perfect for this desert landscape. But for the ceremony part of the session she switched out to another beautiful dress which you will just have to wait till the next post to see it!
Maria and Ryan (the “bride and groom”) have a crazy cute backstory! They were friends for 2 years before dating. One day they were chatting how they both wanted to travel but didn’t have anyone to go with. They ended up booking one way flights to Europe and started dating while overseas! They had the best official date in the beautiful city of Budapest! Super sweet love story eh?!
Enjoy part one of this two part Moroccan Inspired Elopement! (Sorry but not sorry for all the images! I just couldn’t narrow them down!)
